Testimony from Zabludow's Poles

These are excerpts from audio recordings I made on my trip to Zabludow June, 2001. The first tells the story of Gober the pharmacist who was tiped off that the Jews were to be removed from Zabludow. He hid out with his wife, son and two daughters. Eventually he gave himself up. He was last seen sweeping the streets in the town where he had once been the Mayor. I have some information that he ended up in the Bialystok Ghetto, then was deported to and murdered in Treblinka. Perhaps he is the son of the Pharmacist Gober mentioned in "How I Arrived at Yiddish", by Avrohom Kotik published in the Zabludov Yizkor Book?

The second tells the story of Fineman and his return to Zabludow from deep in Russia near the war's end. Fineman was from the same family as the very well known cantor in Zabludow, whose name was also Fineman.
